Biology professor and Associate Provost for Student Success Christopher Korey reads about 20 books a year, usually from outside his field of research, biology/science, or his current area of work, higher education/student success and retention.
“I want a break from what I normally think about,” says Korey, who enjoys detective series, particularly those in the Nordic noir category. “I like the cultural perspective they can provide before traveling to a country or city.”
He’s also fond of espionage novels set during the two world wars and postwar Europe (think John le Carré and Alan Furst). But the list below comes from his love of fantasy and science fiction. “I love the world-building of the genre,” he says.
